Illamasqua Apocalips Lipstick Review

Hey Beauties!

I got Illamasqua Apocalips Lipstick a while ago I bought it with my gift card I got from the Debenhams Press Show so it was well spent! I absolutely love how different and weird the colours from Illamasqua can be.

Colour/Pigmentation

Illamasqua Apocalips Lipstick is a Matte Teal colour, its quite greeny blue which i personally think its absolutely crazy yet really gorgeous! I don't see why you can't wear this yes its a teal but its still a colour people wear bright oranges and reds and deep reds....Why not teal?
As with all Illamasqua Lipsticks, Apocalips is extremely pigmented and goes on really opaque like you would expect from Illamasqua

Wear Time
These lipsticks will last quite a long time as they are really pigmented and matte they will stain your lips a little which is always good because that way it wont come off, you can easily get about 4/5 hours out of this before you would need to top up.

Packaging

As ive said before in a previous post, I absolutely love Illamasqua packaging as they all have this same shape which is a square type shape that is kept the same across the whole range, everything is also stamped with the Illamasqua Logo.

Price and where to buy

You can get any of the Illamasqua lipsticks from any counter, stand alone store or online at www.illamasqua.com each lipstick retials for £16 and contains 4g of product.

The Good and The Bad

The Good?- Apocalips is extremely pigmented and will last for a long time
The Bad?- It is quite drying as its a really matte formula but you just have to
work with it

What is your favourite Illamasqua Lipstick?
What do you think of Apocalips?

Spring/Summer Trends- Orange Lips

Hey Beauties!

Ive noticing a trend a lot lately with the whole neon thing coming for SS13 and that is the gorgeous Orange Lip! I think an orange lip looks great on a lot of people and its just something so different and "out there" but still wearable

A lot of brands do an orange lipstick you have ones that are like sheer balms which add a hint of colour or you have rally opaque lipsticks which are bright orange

You could try lipsticks such as

  • Maybelline Orange Edge Lipstick for the drug store choice this is a really true orange with a satin finish

  • MAC Morange- Matte
  • NARS Heatwave- Matte

  • Illamasqua Flare- Matte

Lipstick in Flare

I absolutely love flare lipstick as its one of the most bright oranges apart from Morange from MAC that i have used.
I would suggest applying orange lipstick with a lip brush as you will get a really precise application like you would with a red lip

Will you be doing the orange lip this season?
what is your favourite orange lipstick?

Friday Favourites

Hey Beauties! I thought i would do a new weekly post on my favourite products of the week. I thought id start of by showing you some of my favourites that I recently got.

I am absolutely loving this Daniel Sandler Palette in "Scandal at Midnight" its a really versatile palette as you can use this for an everyday look or you could use this for a night time look if you were going out as there is a good variety of colours not to mention how pigmented these colours and how smoothly they apply and blend.

The Witch Stick is one of my favourite blemish treatments as it actually works, what it does is it dries out the spot and treats it so it disappears faster. i have to say when you apply it it does tingle maybe even sting but it works right away i put this on last night and the blemish is basically on its way to being gone

La Roche Posay Eau Thermale is the same as every other thermal water spray but i like using this one because i like the brand and i like the products they produce. Thermal Water sprays help to calm irritation and help to soothe areas that are giving you bother, I also find that it helps to minimise redness on the skin

Benefit Fakeup is one of my most favourite concealers right now for myself and my makeup kit as its extremely hydrating, crease resistant and looks amazing on everyones skin the key to the product is the hydrating ring which contains apple seed extract and vitamin E

Bobbi Brown Natural Brow Shaper is bascially a colour gel which helps to set the brows in to shape it gives the brows colour and fill in sparse areas but also makes it so the brows are tidied and kept into place

Illamasqua Shoot Lipgloss came out with the I'mperfection collection, its bascially an opaque green lipgloss that goes on like a dream and its sticky its a bit tacky but thats to be expected but its no where near sticky. I really like the new packaging as its a little brush i felt the old packaging was good but the products tended to leak a little so i didnt like that

Illamasqua Apocalips is a gorgeous matte teal lipstick ok its a really weird colour but i absolutely love it! its just so weird and different and you know me im all for weird and different! Apocalips and shoot Lipgloss look amazing together!

Crown Brush Infinity Series I got these last week i think and im in love these brushes are fabulous for applying cream and liquid products because they dont soak up the product into the brush so you dont apply more product to the brush, i love the buffing brush because it has to be one of the most dense brushes i have ever used!

and last but not least Illamasqua Gleam in Aurora This product is a god send for highlighting as it gives you a really natural glow to the skin as well as brightening it. You can use it on a number of places such as the cheek bones the brow bone and even on the cupids bow to give the illusion of bigger lips

So those where my favourites

Illamasqua Powder Blush Duo Katie and Ambition Review

Hey Beauties!

I went a little crazy in Illamasqua yesterday, i spent my voucher from the Debenhams Press Show so I got a few bits and pieces from Illamasqua.
I bought the Powder Blush Duo in Katie and Ambition because one was really sparkly and the other was Katie which I needed a new one of anyway

Colour/Pigmentation

Illamasqua Blushes are so highly pigmented you really do need to use a light hand when applying as if you apply to much you will get the clown cheeks and no one wants that.
Katie would be great for those of you who are really pale, its a soft pink tone that wont scream out Makeup! rather a soft rosey lush.
Ambition is a medium pink with warm undertones, it reminds me of NARS Orgasm but more of a plum tone than a pink tone which would look great on medium skin tones and darker skin tones. The glitter in this blush isn't actually massively disco ball glitter as it seems to melt into skin to provide this really flattering glow

Wear Time

Since these Blushes are really pigmented they will last a long time, usually they will last about 7+ hours on a good day what I really like about these blushes as they seem to melt into the skin and I think that's what makes them last longer as they don't just sit on the skin
Packaging

I absolutely love Illamasqua packaging as they all have this same shape which is a square type shape that is kept the same across the whole range, everything is aso stamped with the Illamasqua Logo

Price and where to buy

You can purchase the Blush Duo's from www.illamasqua.com or from any Illamasqua Counter. They retail for £26 for 2g per blush

The Good and The Bad

The Good?- They are really pigmented so will last all day
The Bad?- Sometimes the product smashes ive had a powder or 2 smash on me before

What is your favourite Illamasqua Blush?
What do you think of the Duos?

NARS Turkish Delight Lipgloss Review

Hey Beauties!
I recently bought this gorgeous lipgloss from NARS, I only found out about it because Kim Kardashian wears this lipgloss all the time. I read quite a few reviews on it so i thought i would buy it.

Colour/Pigmentation

Turkish Delight is a really soft baby pink colour which a cool undertone which is awesome because it can be used by tons of different people its a suits all colour if you will. Its quite pigmented but no where near as pigmented as an Illamasqua Gloss it has quite a bit of pigment but it wont completely change the colour of your lips. I feel if you put this over a really strong lip it tones it down quite a bit which is great

I think it looks like a really great colour for really pretty played down lips as its not out there or dramatic it would look awesome with quite strong eyes and this for played down lips.

Wear Time

I havent really used this for everyday purposes but i have seen people saying it lasts for about 2+ hours before you have to reapply, Ive used in on photoshoots and it has lasted about that time before i needed to reapply.

Packaging

I really love NARS Packaging because its so sleek and pretty, im totally all for the Matte look on their products I prefer it to the shiny products some brands do because i hate fingerprints on things so much.
The NARS lipglosses come with a doe foot applicator that i love as being a makeup artist i cant use the application but it makes it really easy to apply some to my hand then use a brush to apply to the lips

Price and where to buy

NARS Turkish Delight Lipgloss retials for £17.50 you can get NARS Turkish Delight Lipgloss from any NARS counter and online at NARS.com but it is quite popular due to the celebrity following it has and the amount of people who like it. I tried for about 2 months to get a hold of it

The Good and The Bad

The Good?- It suits a lot of different people no matter what your skin tone
The Bad?- I think it is a bit tacky but not sticky but that's just personal preference

What do you think of Turkish Delight
What is your favourite lipgloss?

Merchant Square Fashion Show

Hey Beauties!

Yesterday I attended this amazing fashion show with Sunday Girl, Pandora's Basket, Beauty Asethetic and IonaBlogs in Glasgow in aid of raising money for the Princes and Princess of Wales Hospice, they do some amazing work in looking after people in their final days and trying to fulfil any wishes they might have. It was such a great night and such a great cause as well.

There were different clothes from designers there such as Biba, Mary Portas, Pied a Terre and Moschino and more. I managed to get quite a bit of video from the show that i have uploaded and you can see below

The show was separated into 4 different parts, Monochromes, Metallics, Neons and Formal Wear each part was absolutely gorgeous me and Lisa from Beauty Asethetic where totally amazed by some of the clothes especially this gorgeous dress worn by Diane Knox-Campbell better known as Knoxy from Clyde 1 Radio

I absolutely loved the makeup that was done on the night, it was quite dramatic but wearable from what I could see it was a smoked out deep blue eye, contoured cheeks, groomed eyebrows and full glossy red lips.

What did you think of the looks?
What is your favourite?

Vichy Dermablend Ultra Corrective Cream Stick- Review

Hey Beauties!

Dermablend is the perfect foundation/coverup stick for those of you who have skin problems such as acne, birthmarks, age spots, angioma, blemishes burns, chloasma, scars, couperose, post-operatory lesions, rosacea and vitiligo.
Dermablend is a high coverage corrective product which can be used as a foundation for your entire face or used a concealer for targeted areas, I really like the fact you can use it for both there is no lie that this coverup stick is thick! really thick!
I really like the packaging as it comes in stick form you can twist up and use from the stick on targeted areas or use with a spatula for hygiene reasons.

It comes in 7 different shades ranging from Porcelain a really light colour with pink undertones to Coffee a deep colour with red undertones
Most of the shades are red based i think maybe because it covers up better than yellow tones tend to.
I have the tones Porcelain the pink tone and Opal the yellow tone

As you can see above they are pretty light and come with a fair amount of product. I find it works best if you warm this product up on your hand before applying as it is quite thick and applying straight to your face wont look as good as if you had warmed it up, it is the same ideas as with the Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage Concealer
Vichy says you will get at least 12 hours of wear with the foundation but if paired with the Vichy Setting Powder they say you will get 16 hours worth of wear

Its rather weird because these foundations are so thick but a little goes a long way and covers a lot without feeling caked in makeup you feel normal i would say

You can purchase Vichy from escentual.com who are having a 33% off sale right now so instead of being £20 the foundation sticks are only £12.67 which is a great deal but be sure to get it soon as the offer ends at the end of march

CKone Eyeshadow Base in Prim Review

Hey Beauties!
I recently went to the Debenhams Press Show and CKone was one of the brand that where there they totally caught my eye i went over to have a look at what they had to offer I met Ross Andrewartha at the event who is the National Training Manager he was so awesome! We talked about the products and what CKone had to offer and I was really impressed they had a lot of great products and a lot of the colours they had i loved, especially this really deep purple lip colour that went on sheer but still looked gorgeous! but the thing that caught my eye the most was this eyebase which was quite a weird colour. It was a really earthy toned mustard colour which you might not think would be good but its such a gorgeous colour!

They come in little squeezy tubes and contain quite a bit of product (5ml) as you only need a tiny bit you will see from the photo above how much that little dot spread. The formula is really smooth and applies really well and evenly the thing i really love about this base is they set once they set they wont come off by rubbing or creasing! which is just amazing in my opinion because i like thing that set as well as dont move once they are on.

I did a look using this as base with the Daniel Sandler Scandal at Midnight Palette and a variation of lips one being nude and the other a deep red (Chanel Rouge Allure, Rouge Noir).

  • Apply the CKone Eyeshadow base in Prim over the lids and into the crease and allowed it to set
  • Apply the Brown tone on to the outter part of the lid as well as up into the crease to create depth
  • The black was applied to the outer corner as well as into the crease slightly for more dimention
  • The white was then applied to the inner corner of the eyes and blended inward to open and brighten the eyes, it was also used as a highlight for the brows
  • Apply YSL Gel Liner in Black and create a flick
  • Curl your lashes and Apply Mascara

You can purchase the CKone Eyeshadow Base from Debenhams They retail for £11

What do you think of CKone?

Vichy Homme Hydra Mag C+ Review

Hey Male Beauties!

Today im coming to you with a review of the Vichy Homme Hydra Mag C+, a great product for you guys out there who read my blog!
Ive not really used much "For Men" products as i think they are really all the same whether you slap a "for men" label on it or not but i really like this product, Vichy describes it as:

"Especially suited to male skin, the combination of magnesium and phosphoriled vitamin C invigorates a dull and tired complexion, while fortifying the skin with protecting glycerine and Vichy Thermal Spa Water. The epidermis is moisturised, reinforced, and perfectly prepared for the day, with a renewed appearance.

The fresh and invigorating texture is non-greasy and ultra-absorbent, making for a matte and clear finish on the skin. The complexion looks brighter and more awake."

It does everything it says, im not one who knows a lot about skincare but i did notice quite a big difference when using this with the La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume as my skin is quite dry this helped to get rid of the dryness and hydrate my skin, it also helped to brighten my skin a bit because having dry skin makes your skin a little dull so this is a great product for that

I like the packaging it comes in its a little pump bottle that dispense the right amount of product that you will be for your entire face.
I would totally recommend this for anyone but i think it works best for those who want hydration because me having dry skin i think it really benefited me. The Hydra Mag C+ is also good for reducing the appearance of bags and dark circles

The product its self is quite thick but applies well and absorbs well, it has quite a strong masculine scent to it as well but the thing that got me the most was the colouring of it it honestly looks so weird

As you can see it has a really weird greeny yellow tint to it and i wont mention what it looks like haha! but yeah the appearance is a small mishap i think but the product its self is great

You can purchase this from escentual.com who are having a sale and with the Vichy Homme Hydra Mag C+ you are getting 33% off its usually £16.50 but on sale its only £11

What do you think of this?
Have you used the Homme range before?

La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 Review

Hey Beauties!
Today I come to you with a review of  La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 which was sent to me by Escentual. Escentual have an offer on this month on the French pharmacy favourites, 1/3 off selected brands!
  • Vichy, La Roche-Posay and Nuxe at 33% off RRP
  • Eau Thermale Avène, Klorane, A-Derma, Rene Furterer, and Pierre Fabre at 25% off RRP
  • Caudalie at 10% off RRP
  • Use code "BIODERMA10" to get 10% all Bioderma Products!
I am loving Cicaplast, its quite like the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream as Cicaplast is a do everything cream that can be used on the face, body, lips etc. Its great because it can be used by all members of the family from babies right up to adults and on all irritations or differences in your skin so long as its not bleeding or an open cut/wound etc.

"Its highly reparative formulation includes Panthenol concentrated at 5%, plus Madecassoside which acts as an anti-inflammatory and collagen synthesiser. The triple-action of copper, zinc and manganese encourages optimal skin recovery, while antibacterial agents ensure long-lasting protection."

I think it works really well as you can use it on a number of things like chapped lips,  heating sensation, sunburn dryness, nappy rash, grazes and eczema. I personally use it for dryness because my skin is so dry but using a combination of Cicaplast and Vichy Homme serum and my skin has been looking so great. I have no dry patches!

The texture of this cream is really nice it feels really moisturising but its no were near as thick as 8 hour cream, the directions are to apply as much as you need for the part you want to use the Baume on and rub it into the skin then leave it to absorb in. I think this is far better than 8 hour cream because it absorbs better and it isnt sticky at all.

You can get La Roche Posay Cicaplast Baume B5 from Escentual at 33% off at £10.33 or you can also buy it from Boots for £15.50, the tube contains 100ml of product

What do you think of this?
Do you like Cicaplast or 8 Hour Cream better?

Benefit Fakeup Concealer Review

Hey Beauties!
I attended an event last night for Benefit Cosmetics, it was their launch of Fakeup, the hydrating ceaseless concealer.
It was a great night filled with talk about makeup, some Champagne and a few games which were quite fun I won a prize from one of the games which was a sugarlicious box set filled with goodies! I also met up with some amazing people some i already knew some I hadn't, I met the Head Makeup Artist for Benefit who was so sweet and totally awesome i had a great time talking to her.

So on to the concealer its Benefit's latest product. Benefit describes it as:

This NEW hydrating crease-control concealer, is proven to keep the skin hydrated for 6 hours!  The hydrating ring has vitamin E & apple seed extract for immediate moisturisation  The concealing core hides dark circles, smooths skin and diffuses light.

Fakeup is basically a concealer that can be used under the eyes or on any problem area's you might have. Its really hydrating containing Apple Seed Extracts and Vitamin E as said above, it makes the skin look amazing as it is combined with the concealer in the core of the stick. It comes in 3 colours which to me maybe isnt the best range of colours as not everyone will be in those shades some may be darker than shade 3 but you can always try it out and see how it goes for you. What I really like about them is they are all warm toned so they cover darkness under the eyes really well as warm tones like peaches and salmon colours cancel out the darkness so thats a big plus!

I used Fakeup today just to see how well it lasted and what the wear was like. I can report back with good news! I loved it, it was so hydrating like they said it would be it actually surprised me how well it covered as well as how smoothly it went on I had it on for about 12 hours now and it was still going strong there has been no creasing and now caking and its still there as with some concealers it would have worn off or caked up and this hasnt

Fakeup is available from the 30th of March onward and will retail for £18.50. You will be able to buy it either the Benefit Counters or from www.benefitcosmetics.co.uk/

What is your favourite Benefit Concealer?
Are you looking forward to try Fakeup?

Illamasqua Halcyon Illuminator Review

Hey Beauties!
I wanted to talk about this awesome product, i dont think this particular shade is still available but i wanted to talk about the product not the colour but i will mention it.

These illuminator are a really great product for highlighting things or if you want to give something a sheen, it can also be used as a base for eyeshadows as its soo sheen-y that it looks amazing on the eyes.
Once applied you dont have much time to blend the product into the skin because it dries quite fast and once it dries its not coming off until you use a remover you can easily get about 8 hours of use of this

I really like how the product is dispensed through a little nozzle at the top it makes everything so much more hygienic than say a brush that Benefit Highbeam has. It dispenses product really easily and in the amount that you need without wasting.

Halcyon is a golden champagne colour, i wouldnt say its glittery but it is more of a sheen that you from the product when blended in, its basically the same idea as Benefits highlighters but these are far superior in the sense they set and they last. What I really love about these is the fact that they catch the light gorgeously its not something that sounds out and looks crazy when applied to any skin tone you get this gorgeous glow from the skin

You can buy the Illamasqua Illuminator's from Illamasqua.com or from any Illlamasqua counter/store. They retail at £13.50 for 7ml of Product.

What do you think of these Illuminators?
What are your favourite highlighter/illuminators
