What should be in my portfolio as a Model?!

Having images in your portfolio is very important..you want to be able to show potential clients the best of you. So..what type of images do you put in your portfolio?

Have a Polaroid type photo of your face, with no or minimal make up, and a full length photo.
This will show your clients what YOU really look like with out any fancy lighting, editing, make up artist etc etc.

Other type of professional photos to include in your portfolio would be, natural looks, and dramatic/bold looks. You want to be able to show that you are versatile, you're not just a one trick pony who can
only pull off one look.

Make sure you have a mix of images that range from beauty, fashion, editorial, and make sure that not all of them are just in a studio, or on location.

Personally I have two types of portfolios. I have my online one, and I have a printed one. The printed one I take with me to all my shoots, so if I am at a photoshoot, and I am working with people who haven’t seen my work online..then I can show them my printed folio and give them a link to where they can find more of my work.

In my printed portfolio, I started off with only 10 images. There was 5 headshots, and 5 full length or ¾ length. As I have done more and more work, I have added to it, and taken away the images that are maybe not my strongest any more. I have asked opinions of other professionals, if I can not decide on particular photos from the same shoot, or that are quite similar. I have also asked for peoples opinions on my portfolio as to which are my strongest and weakest images. This, I find is important to do, as you become attached to the images yourself...so asking a few different people what they prefer, and why, can help you to decide what should and should not be in your portfolio.

Keep your portfolio up to date!! If you keep around a printed portfolio that hasn’t been updated for more than 6 months (depends on how often you book a shoot) think about looking through your images you have received most recently and pick one or two that would help update your current portfolio.

I hope this has helped...and if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask!! :)

Recent Blush Purchases- Gosh, No7, Topshop

Hey Beauties!
Recently I was looking though my kit and realised I had almost no cream blushes (above are cream apart from the No7 Blush which is powder) I thought it would be a good idea to go out and try some of the recommendations I had seen on blog's a lot.

Topshop Cream Blush- Neon Rose- £6
I thought id try the Topshop Cream Blush because I had heard a lot of good things about these how pigmented they were and how long they lasted on the skin etc, I chose the colour Neon Rose which is a sort of Neon Pink/Red which blends down to create this gorgeous flushed colour which can be built up but it looks nice when less is used. The product its self is really creamy and blends really well, ive always been quite scared i guess you could say of cream blush as I didn't want it to mess up but this looks really nice on the cheeks. These contain 4g of product or 0.14oz

Gosh Cosmetics- Peachy Rush Cream Blush- £6.99
I really like this colour because it goes on really well and looks great for a sort of peachy type blush rather than opting for a peachy powder blush like Peaches or Springsheen from MAC. It offers a really nice glow as well even though the colour is matte which i think is a great think about cream blushes as they look amazing people with dry skin. These contain 5ml of product or 0.2fl oz

Gosh Cosmetics- Lusty Pink Cream Blush- £6.99
This is your bright bright hot pink, when you use too much of this you can look like coco the clown which is a bad look but which a right amount of product applied to the cheek it can give a really nice pink blush to the cheeks without looking overly fake or made up. I love the texture of the blushes because they are so soft and "butter like" that they can be easily blended out to almost nothing which can be a good and bad thing.
These contain 5ml of product or 0.2fl oz

No7 Candy Pink Blush- £9.50
This is one of the blushes that surprised me, I only bought this so I could get the 3 for 2 voucher because I wanted the Lip Liners from No7. I got it home not holding high hopes for it but when I tried it I was really quite impressed it is a soft pink toned blush that looks cool toned but looks the perfect shade of pink for the cheeks not to mention it is completely matte which also surprised me because Matte and Drug Store don't usually go together. The formula is great as well its not overly chalky and lasts a while as you'd expect.
These contain 5g of product or 0.17oz

Above are some swatches of each blush and as you can see the camera has changed them slightly how i see it in real life but they are pretty accurate. I really love the Neon Rose and Lusty Pink

What do you think of these?
What is your favourite cream or powder Blush?

Zombie Photoshoot with Shannen Allison

Hey Beauties!
So I did a photoshoot the other day with a photographer called Eric Gordon and the Model Shannen Allison. it was so much fun because it was an SFX shoot.
We used different places like back alleys and places that looked old and decaying which was amazing

The majority of the makeup is just Latex and Tissue Paper with some colouring and a ton of Blood!

What do you think?

Favourite Product- May 2012

Hey Beauties!
Im back, I finally got a new laptop if you follow me on twitter or instagram (AndrewJamesMakeup) you will have seen how pretty it is!

So with request from the awesome Christine ((@teeny89)) i am going to be doing my favourite product of May and as you can see from the picture above its High Beam by Benefit, normally I dont really like Benefit all that much to be honest but i must admit that the highlighters and all the other "beams" are great its most likely the one thing I go to benefit for besides getting my eyebrows done.

High Beam is a fantastic highlighter for giving a glow to the skin by bringing forward parts of the face its great to use when you are contouring as it gives the perfect compliment to the contour. Its a pearly pink colour which sets and wont budge once it has although it does have a bit of glitter in it, it isn't that noticeable once blended in but you do have to work quite fast

As you can see above it gives the skin such a nice glow, to apply it is quite easy as in the picture above I usually use my fingers to dot it on and blend as it does come with a brush but its useless haha

Over all i think this is an amazing product that everyone should try at least once or get a sample of.

What do you think of High Beam?
What's your favourite highlighter?

Beauty Fixation by Japonesque

Hey Beauties,
I know i haven't updated much lately because I kinda broke my laptop hah the screen fell of so I ordered a new one, everything should be back to normal possibly next week!

So lately I was in boots and looking at the Real Techniques brushes and saw these little cotton bud/q-tip type things and was curious as to what they were when i had a look I realised they were these awesome pre-filled cotton bud/q-tips which contain different things such as Tinted Lip Conditioner, Makeup Remover, Nail Polish Touch up, Cuticle Conditioner There are more but the others such as Lipstick Touch up, Pre-Tweeze Treatment

I actually love these things so much because they are invaluable when you are on shoots because you just snap the tip and use and it saves space so you don't need a ton of removers and cotton buds/q-tips

In each pack you get 24 applications for around £4.99 or $5.00 in the US. You can find them in Boots or if you live in the US you can find them at http://beautyfixation.com
I love the idea of these not to mention they are made by Japonesque so you know they are awesome!

What do you think?
Worth it?
