Foundations!

Hey Beauties!!
I thought i would do a blog on Foundations today!

I will talk about my Favourites and what i like about them and what skin type advantages and disadvantages etc

  • MAC Face and Body Foundation- (My Foundation,C3) (Liquid)- I found this foundation to be really good for the summer its awesome, its better than a tinted moisturiser i personally think its water based but gives a sheer coverage enough to cover red-ness and give you a really nice glow to your skin without feeling wet, steaky or icky (haha). You get 12ML or 4.0 Fl Oz for £23.50 or $32.50

  • Illamasqua Rich Liquid- (My Foundation, RF100, RF210) (Liquid) - This is a good foundation aswell its really thick and you only need a tiny pea sized amount as it is a full...MAXIMUM coverage and im not joking its like a new layer of skin. It comes in 17 different shades from Pure White to Dark Chocolate Colour. I would say you shouldnt use this if you have dry skin because it really makes the dry-ness on your skin stand out alot and its not a good look so only wear this if you have oily or combination skin but moisturise really well. Cost- £21.50 or $34.40

  • The Body Shop Moisture Foundation SPF 15 (My Foundation,3,5,6) (Liquid) - These foundations are quite thin and as the name says they moisturise the skin whilst they are on so you dont dry out, these would be good for people with dry skin and this is a Medium Coverage. These have SPF in them as well so it would be good for summer time as you will be going out in the sun.  I like this because it goes on really well and blends in really well i always use some powder on top just for a bit of extra coverage just buffed in with a Kabuki and it gives a really flawless look. These foundations come in 8 Different shades. Costs - £13 or $20.80

  • Kryolan Cake Make-Up (My Foundation, 2W) (Powder to Cream) -I like this foundation for drag because its really thick, it has to be as it is stage makeup but its good for drag because it has one of the highest coverages i have used. Its really soft and gives a flawless finish but wouldn't really use it for dry skin unless its really!!! moisturised, it contains a Moisturiser in it but that wont be enough, but this is amazing for if you are performing or doing drag!. This Costs £9.50 or $15.30

I have other foundations than this but these are the ones i like the best the others i have arnt that good so i wouldnt recommend them
  • Benefit Playstick- Caked up around my nose and cheeks make me look soooo bad, was only on for 3 hours
  • PanStik is to heavy for my face it cakes up as well
But that doesnt mean these wont work on you, they just aren't my favourite!

Blush, Bronzer, Contour and Highlight Review!

I love face products as they as they shape or add colour and luminance which we all love even if you love the Pale 1920's look or your a Bronzed Goddess.
My Favorites range from drug store to highend! (In no order)

  • Benefit Perfect 10- This is a Bronzer and Highlighter in one which might sound weird but it smells amazing!! ((what is it with me smelling makeup haha)) You get a really nice pinky highlighter that looks to have some golden undertones which is really nice i love this because it really does highlight the cheeks nicely. The Bronzer side is really nice aswell because it is shimmery but not glittery, its really soft smooth and silky it has some golden and bronze undertones in it. The thing with the "Perfect 10" is that it can be used with the soft brush supplied and swept in the powder to put both on at once

  • Illamasqua Powdered Metal in Thalia - This is really a powder but i think it looks really nice once you have put Bronzer on and this goes over the top i like it to give a shimmery contour aswell ((even though Contour is supposed to be Matte, when do i follow rules?))  This is really amazing because it doesnt glitter, it sort of glistens, i dont really know how to describe its beauty its weird but so pretty

  • Illamasqua Bronzer in Writhe- I again love this bronzer as it is again ...shiney? gives a really nice glow but when you buff it is it just looks like a really nice soft silky almost matte brown amazing! this is my go to Bronzer as well as Hex Medium Pencil (Yes i use a liner to contour haha) I use the Illamasqua Contour Brush for this! If i could recommend any of the Bronzers get one from Illamasqua! i also love it because it has the Illamasqua Symbol pressed into the Powder
  • Illamasqua Powder Blusher(Multiple ones)- I have 3 different Powder Blushes from Illamasqua, These blushes are fantastic, they are super pigmented more so than MAC. One tap of these blushes and sometimes thats to much these will last you for months and months i can promise you that.
      • Lover- is a a salmon-y peachy colour which looks really nice on olive skin tones and lighter pale skin tones

      • Hussy- is a Bright Candy Peach which looks amazing on pale and darker tones but again this is really pigmented so a light hand is needed!

      • Intrigue - is a Matte White Highlighter but can be used as a blush for artistic looks, i love this as it is amazing as just a block white highlight i find this would be good for drag as it has no shimmer so pictures would be perfect in saying that would be amazing for photography aswell

  • Illamasqua Cream Blusher in Laid- is a Bright Rose Pink with a Dewy Finish. I have to admit i haven't used this much because i like using Hussy or Lover but i have tried it and if you thought the Powder Blusher was pigmented you haven't tried these they are so creamy and long lasting, they arnt oily at all i love how smooth they feel. They would be really good for older skin as they wont skin into wrinkles or pores as a powder would most likely do
  • Illamasqua Powder Eyeshadow in Grope ((i know!!, but its a good highlight for lighter skin -Matte-))- I love this because its a really nice colour and goes on my skin really nice if i dont want a white highlight i will put this one and it gives a more natural highlight as its practically skin toned ((i think it has been discontinued))
  • W7 Bronze Shimmer- I like this because its a really nice bronzer its quite similar to Writhe (a bit darker and less glow-y) But it is really soft and goes on well and doesnt cake up
W7 The Bronzer CompactIt isnt really that dark, i think its just the picture

  • YSL Touche Eclat- is a Highlighter or Luminator.
i dont think i have one bad thing to say about this maybe could use more but still it works amazingly you use it on the places you want to highlight and it does just that. I use it under the arches of my eyebrows and it makes it look amazing i also use it to outline my lips and blend out giving a more fuller sexy look This comes in Touche Eclat for men aswell which has less shimmer in it

Stuart Pilkington launches YSL Touche Eclat For Men at Selfridges on September 11, 2008 in London, England.

MAC Pro Palette

Hey Beauties!

I recently got my Pro Palette and i love it! I got 15 different colours then im going to get another Pro Palette with Neutrals in it as this one has colours in it, you have to buy the Palette (£11.50 or $14) separate then buy the 15 de-potted eyeshadows (£9.50 or $11)

  • Vanilla
  • Pink Venus
  • Chrome Yellow
  • Electric Eel
  • Swimming
  • Bitter
  • Brick Red
  • Passionate
  • Atlantic Blue
  • Creme de Violet
  • Parfait Amour
  • Beauty Marked
  • Woodwinked
  • Electra
  • Black Tied
Total= £154 or $179 (Palette included in Total)

My Favourite colour would have to be either Woodwinked, Electric Eel or Atlantic Blue. I love these eyeshadows as they are really pigmented (well most of them...Brick red...shittttt, haha), they go on really smoothly and blend really well, They still cant beat Illamasqua Eyeshadows but its a good contrast

Favourite Eye/Lipliners!

Hey Beauties!

I love Liners, they are amazing well the idea of them are something they arnt as good as you would hope. Im going to talk about my favourite liners and why i like them!

-Pencil Liners-

Illamasqua Medium Pencil- They are the best i have used....ever! They are so creamy and soft and can be used for multiple purposes as an Eyeliner, Lipliner, Blush, Contour, Eyebrow Pencil or to draw art on the face or body (My Favourite Colours- Sophie, Fiesty, Bait, Ascend)

Medium Pencil in Feisty

MUA Pencil- These are kind of soft but have
good colour to them considering they are only £1 from Superdrug  they do the job well and they come with a little Sharpener on the end.

Barry M Lip Lacquer Crayon- I dont know what to say about these but they are amazing again, soft and creamy high pigmentation and an amazing sort of golden shine to them, usually you can put this on as a lip colour as its so pigmented and such a thick colour like a soft lipstick in a pencil.

-Liquid Liner-

I don't use Liquid Liner that much if ever but i do love one liner only that's liquid and that would have to be the Illamasqua Precision Ink, This liner is amazing its the blackest black and as it says it is so precise its amazing it has a pointed felt tip point so it can be used anywhere on the face or body and what i love about this is it doesn't move once its on its like liquid when you put it on but once it dries, it dries to something of a film.

-Gel/Cream Liners-

Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner- This is my go to Eyeliner it is the most amazing Eyeliner i have ever used its so soft and creamy and goes on so softly and doesn't get dry. What i like best is that you only need a little for a huge payoff if you use the right brush it can look seriously amazing! it may be pricey but its well worth it (I use the MAC 210 to apply this)

Japanese-Kabuki-esque Look

Hey Beauties, i thought i would share what i did the other day.

I was slightly bored so i started to look up Japanese Art and Kabuki Theatre, which gave me the inspiration to create my own. I know it isnt the best but i tried to make it as awesome as i could:

I used an Illamasqua Liquid Metal in Resolute which is a Metallic Ruby, i just used an Angled liner Brush and a small Detail Brush (((266, 210 MAC))) and for the Black Brows and Eyes and Lips i used the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
I thought this look was really fun it was mostly about trying to get things right and trying to get it Symmetrical.
You can get the Liquid Metals from Illamasqua(Click Here) in 4 colours but i used Resolute

Saving you some money! - MAC Sized to Go Collection

Hey Beauties!

MAC has recently brought out a collection called "Sized to go" which is actually such a rip off! i wouldn't advise you to buy it.((you can buy the empty MAC Containers and fill them up with the full sized product!))

In this collection:

MAC Sized to Go FIX + $10
MAC Sized to Go CLEANSE OFF OIL/TRANQUIL $10
MAC Sized to Go CLEANSE OFF OIL $10
MAC Sized to Go PRO EYE MAKEUP REMOVER $10
MAC Sized to Go DEMI-WIPES $15
MAC Sized to Go OIL CONTROL LOTION $15
MAC Sized to Go GREEN GEL CLEANSER $10
MAC Sized to Go STROBE CREAM $15
MAC Sized to Go STUDIO MOISTURE CREAM $15

The average volume of these products for the liquids is 100ml or 3.4 Fl Oz, in this Sized to go collections you
are getting 30ml or 1.0Fl Oz So think about it. If you were to buy 1 of the regular sized products
you could save a dollar but you loose 40ml or 1.4 Fl Oz of product!

30ml or 1.0 Fl OZ = $10 so 2 of those would be $20 but you would get only 60ml so your loosing out! and paying more.
Instead of buying the smaller bottle, buy the bigger one as you get more for your money but if you want it for convenience just put it in a smaller container

DONT BE RIPPED OFF !

Face Primers!

Hey Beauties!
I thought i would do a blog today or tonight, about face primers ill list some amazing primers i find work amazingly some will be Drug Store or affordable primers and then 2 of my favourite high end Primers
First- Why do we use Primers?
We use primers because it helps to give our faces a soft, smooth palette to start applying our foundation.
There are different kinds of primers- such as ones for dry skin, matte skin, to help moisturise, colour correct (Smashbox Primers) and some to help give a glow to the skin. They are also used to help the foundation last longer and to stop it from caking up during the day

Ill start with my favourite affordable primer which are the Body Shop Primers there are 2 different primers

  • The Body Shop Skin Primer- Matte it
  • The Body Shop Skin Primer- Moisturise it
- Matte it - is an amazing primer in my opinion, its similar in consistency to MAC Matte
it smoothes out the skin and gives a good base to work on, It doesn't go oily or feel oily i would say it makes my foundation look amazing and silky also helps to keep it from caking up or looking flakey without it i don't think it would last the whole day
From the Body Shop Website:

"A skin caring make-up primer that creates a smooth and invisible layer to prepare the skin before the application of foundation, and helps your make-up stay in place for longer. "

This primer costs £11 and has 25ml or 0.84 FL oz

-Moisturise it- I haven't used this primer to much as i like to have Matte skin but i can say it does what it says and it works really well. It rubs into the skin leaving a clear base its like a constancy of a moisturiser, doesn't feel sticky and it works the same as Matte it but is more Moisturising.

Taken from the Body Shop Website:
"Best if you want to: Create a perfect canvas for building a natural makeup look with a skin caring primer that creates a smooth and invisible layer to prepare the skin before the application of foundation, and helps makeup stay in place for longer."

Best for: normal, dry and sensitive skin types

How it works:

Provides a moisturizing base that leaves skin feeling silky smooth.
Vitamin E complex and Community Trade aloe vera to help soothe the skin.
Community Trade beeswax to help protect the skin."

Then i have another Primer this one is from the Body Care Shop
"Prime it, Illuminating Face Primer" - £3.99
i wouldn't personally use this as a primer as it is too shimmery and glittery so i would use this as a highlighter.
but if you want to be shimmery like Edward Cullen use it all over your face!
Elf Mineral Primer- Not the best primer ever but it works, what can you expect for £5 i think it was
its a bit too thick and oily and doesn't really "sink" into the skin well enough

Now i said i would review my 2 favourite high end primers which are :
-Illamasqua Satin Primer
-Benefit Dr. Feelgood

Illamasqua Satin Primer - Cost £19.50

This primer is amazing, costly but amazing it so soft and silky its like Gleam Cream but not as shiny (as gives a nice glow)
This just gives the skin a nice glow which is really nice, it feels like it moisturises the skin whilst its on it does keep your foundation on long than it would without and i feel it helps to keep cakey-ness and stops making your skin dry up. it has UVA and UVB in it so it will help whilst out in the sun
Taken from the Illamasqua Site

"An artist always prepares their canvas. Use under foundation or on its own for a smooth, even base that is protected from the elements. Containing UVA and UVB filters, Illamasqua Satin Primer lifts and highlights the face, creating a stunning dewy effect to enhance the siren within.

  • Benefit Dr. Feelgood -
I found that it really does make a difference to makeup application. The silicone-base acts as a ‘filler’ for skin imperfections, and coupled with the Vitamin C infusion, it gives you that little extra boost of ‘glow factor’ for the evening out. It’s also got a nice mild citrus fragrance
